PSA: Your target audience is not “everyone” (and that’s a good thing)

“My target audience is everyone"

A sentence guaranteed to send a shiver down every copywriter's spine.

🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴

The thing is, if you market yourself as "everything to everybody", your messaging will drown in a sea of sameness.

❌ You won't stand out.

❌ You won't speak directly to your customer

❌ You won't show what makes you different

❌ And... you'll sound just like everybody else.

So, instead?...👇️

Identify your ideal customer

Think of them as one individual.

💭Who are they? 💭 How do they look, sound, and feel? 💭What are their challenges? 💭What keeps them up at night? 💭Where do they want to be?

💭 Where do they hang out online? 💭 What other solutions are they considering?

And then 👇️

Identify your unique solution.

💭How can your product or service uniquely help your customer solve their challenges? 💭What specific benefits can you offer? 💭How are you different to your competitors? 💭 How do you want your customers to feel? 💭 Why should they choose you?

When you get this granular, your messaging becomes crystal clear and speaks directly to the customer who needs your product/service most 💥
